While visiting Stowe, Vermont, I met this sweet couple by pure chance. They were expecting their first baby, soaking in one last getaway together before life changed in the most beautiful way. As we chatted, I offered to capture a few photos for them and before we knew it, we were walking through an open field overlooking the iconic Stowe Community Church, embracing a gentle Vermont rain. Twenty minutes and a little drizzle with two people completely in love is sometimes, that's all you need.
A Spontaneous Maternity Session in Stowe, Vermont
One of my favorite things about photography is that it has a way of turning ordinary moments into lifelong memories. There was no elaborate planning for this session. No Pinterest board. No carefully timed itinerary. Just two parents-to-be celebrating this fleeting season together while surrounded by Vermont's incredible fall landscape. It's a reminder that perfect weather isn't what creates beautiful images—connection does. It was such a blessing for all of us involved! It was fun to create on a whim in a new place and also gift something so special to them!

Celebrating the Season Before Everything Changes
Pregnancy is filled with anticipation and excitement. There is some wonder and a little uncertainty. There so much love for someone you haven't even met yet. One of my favorite moments from this session was watching them simply walk together across the field, smiling at one another as the rain quietly fell around them. There was nothing rushed or overly posed about it.He instinctively wrapped his arms around her growing belly. She couldn't stop smiling. Those small moments often become the photographs families treasure the most.
The rain honestly helped make these photos even more gorgeous! Many people worry when they see rain in the forecast. As a photographer, I often get excited because the cloudy skies create incredibly soft, flattering light, and light rain adds movement, atmosphere, and emotion that sunshine simply can't replicate. This time it muted fall colors, added gentle mist, and cozy wardrobe choices all came together to create images that feel warm despite the cool Vermont air. Sometimes nature gives you exactly what you didn't know you needed.
